Gene Colan and Tom Palmer Doctor Strange #176 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1969). The forces of darkness grab a hold of Clea and attempt to drag her into the abyss! To save her, Doctor Strange will have to use all his knowledge of the mystic arts -- but can he rescue her in time? Created in ink, white paint, and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of approximately 9.75" x 15.25". The board is very toned with corner wear and graphite smudging. The original issue number paste-up is taped in the top margin and there is an acetate overlay containing modern day low-res re-creation header dressing taped to the top margin. The tombstone and Clea's face contain whiteout correction/clean-up. A corner box cover-up and tape along the left side of the image. Production tape can also be seen on left margin of image area. On the right margin is a small tear with a tape abrasion, as well as an abrasion in the upper image area. A small area of shading film on the right side of image has become unadhered from board. Editorial marks/notes, residue and spot staining, with tape residue along the back edges. Piece is personalized by Colan in the lower margin. In Very Good condition.
