Dave Gibbons Watchmen #12 "A Clock at Midnight, Its Face Running with Blood" Cover Original Art (DC, 1987). "It would be a stronger world, a stronger loving world, to die in." -- John Cale, "Sanities." The closing panel of this chapter contains the same iconic symbol -- a smiley face with a spatter of red -- as the opening image of Chapter I. At the end of the story, though, the stain is ketchup, rather than blood. This landmark "doomsday" cover for the final chapter, "A Stronger Loving World," has an image area of 10" x 15", and the art is in Excellent condition. From the Shamus Modern Masterworks Collection.
